Behind the SAPOR® principle is a visionary inventor: August Belz (1907–1971), a Swiss razor blade manufacturer and inventor with an eye for practical and innovative solutions. Early on, he recognized the potential of solid soap in a donor system – long before topics such as resource conservation and zero waste had their current status.

His idea was as simple as it was ingenious: to press soap in the form of a stable rod for a dispenser, from which fine dry soap powder can be rubbed off by mechanically turning.

In 1947, August Belz turned this idea into a functional product. The solid soap rod inside the dispenser was finely scraped off by a handwheel. The result: hygienic, dry soap powder – exactly dosable, productive and independent of temperature or water hardness.

This innovation formed the basis for the world-famous Sapor dry soap dispenser system.

In the 1950s and 1960s, the Sapor® dry soap dispensers displaced the previously used “Kippkugel” systems – also popularly known as Schiffelspender – which, since the 1920s, and operated.
The advantages of the new system were immediately convincing:

• Insensitive to cold and environmental influences
• Hygienic, dry product

Sapor established itself as a reliable vandalism secure solution for public and heavily frequented washrooms, such as in European railways.

To this day, Sapor dry soap dispensers are used in schools, public institutions, municipalities and railways – a sign of the long-lasting and robust quality of the products.
At the same time, SAPOR consistently develops the original idea and brings it into the everyday life of modern households:
